About Contender

Contender was a bay Holsteiner stallion renowned for his exceptional influence on sport horse breeding. Sired by Calypso II out of the mare Gofine (by Ramiro), he excelled in his 1987 stallion performance test, receiving top marks in both jumping and dressage. Contender went on to become one of the most important sires of his generation, producing over 80 licensed sons and numerous state-premium mares. His offspring, including Checkmate, Montender, and Collin, achieved international success in show jumping and eventing. Contender passed away at the age of 30, leaving behind a powerful and enduring breeding legacy.
